The jets they fly in to each destination uses more carbon footprint than all the cars added up, how many times do you fly a year? Me, none so they can have my carbon allocation to race F1.
— Alan Harper (@AlanHar10225584) August 7, 2018
😂😂😂 I work in aviation. I love F1. I am a huge Hamilton fan.
I just do not like this hypocrisy from Lewis. How much plastic does L'Oreal use a year? You know, one of his main sponsors that are blindly fixated on profit.....
— YardieVybz (@RastaRick_1) August 7, 2018
Of course. Not my favourite bloke tbh!
— Jools (@JPT9320) August 7, 2018
So... let me get this straight: Lewis using his well knowe face for a good case is somehow a bad thing?
— Jeroen (@Jimmy_Manna) August 7, 2018
I respect what you did by cleaning up, but it's a bit hard to not buy plastics when most things are made of plastic these days. We need a better way of disposing our waste.
— Blank (@HTD_Thirteen) August 7, 2018
It’s easy to do the small things tho, like bringing your own water in a reusable container, instead of buying bottled in the shop.
— Dale Stangoe (@DaleStangoe) August 7, 2018
Personally I don’t understand why people buy bottled water to use at home, this country has some of the best and clean water there is, I love drinking our water.
— Carol Glover (@CarolGloverHDC) August 7, 2018
Thank you! My partner is obsessed that the tap water is horrible and makes him feel sick but bottled water is fine! Nutter tap water in a reusable bottle cheaper and greener

Yes @LewisHamilton! Thank you for shining a global light on #plasticpollution. It will take a huge team effort to solve such a huge issue, but we're optimistic that one day we'll see #PlasticFreeCoastlines! Get involved here: https://t.co/RFjhvEUHSI
— SurfersAgainstSewage (@sascampaigns) August 7, 2018
Thank you @LewisHamilton for highlighting the issue of plastic pollution. The sad truth is that more than 8 million tonnes of plastic ends up in our ocean each year, and much of what is sent to be recycled ends up in landfill https://t.co/wByI7RMgCk
— Sky Ocean Rescue (@SkyOceanRescue) August 7, 2018
Great job showing the world this ! People need to start at home , in their neighbourhood. Clean up when going for walks . Everything ends up in creeks , rivers and eventually in our oceans . 🙏🏻

Convenient how he stumbled across all that plastic with protective gloves on isnt it!
— Marcus Bridgland (@MarcusBridgland) August 7, 2018
To be fair the video is several cut together and in the first few seconds he does say hes going to come back and clean it up.
— Ashley Goode (@ashgoode) August 7, 2018
Thank you for reminding us to act more responsible &beimg a great rolemodel by showing everybody can do something.Just avoid plastic bottles and cups.Have great holdiays & Much love &God bless you!
— Sabine (@ArtSaSch) August 7, 2018
Hey @F1 how about starting with banning disposable plastic water bottles at races including in the driver's room? Install bottle refilling stations instead please.
— Lisa H (@allhankynopanky) August 7, 2018
Next: eliminat plastic bags and swag in the promo and souvenirs dept.
Thanks for stepping up to save the planet.
How about stopping F1 all together. Colossal waste of resources so a few men can drive round in circles.
— Simon Woodward (@drsimonwoodward) August 8, 2018
Fantastic to see @LewisHamilton publicising the plastic polution issue but it's not their use that's the fundamental problem - we'd all find it incredibly difficult to live without them any any replacement is likely to be as bad - it's irresponsible disposal that needs tackled.

We recycle everything we can in our house but have recently found out that 'recycling' plastic translates into 'shipping it abroad with no control over what happens to it'. Need to stop buying it, and campaign against it. Now I'm happy when my recycling bag is nearly empty.
— Sidmouth Plastic Warriors (@SidPlasticWar) August 8, 2018
That’s great Lewis but can you have a word with your sponsors (eg L’Oréal) about this too. You have a bigger voice than us.
— Bill (@BillHarper87) August 7, 2018
Lewis I love you, but Hope you say the same thing to your friends in the fashion industry who kill animals for their furs, Use a jet for two people. And make people buy their brand who use non-recyclable products.

He has been working with hilfiger to produce more eco friendly fashion. He is not such a big wig in that industry that he can tell off designers but he is at least making an effort to lead by example
— ArD (@rdmghost1) August 7, 2018
Didn't judge his work with TH as its not out yet. I just hope we won't see him at a fashion show like Balmain, Dior etc who use real furs. Also hope he ends up his contract with l'oreal as they aren't eco friendly and are testing on animals. But agree he shows the way to follow.
— #TeamLH (@Lore_TeamLH) August 7, 2018

Bose sponsor Mercedes. What has this got to do with my comment anyway?
— Matt Palmer (@MattyP44) August 7, 2018
They use plastic right in there products every company needs to cut back using plastic if you look at real Madrid's shirt there shirt for this season is made off plastic witch is a good thing it's all am saying everyone needs to resical more
— Donald Morrison (@dmdm23231565) August 7, 2018
The only way we can tackle it at the moment is by disposing of it properly and being responsible human beings.
— Matt Palmer (@MattyP44) August 7, 2018
Yup enjoy your hols dude and hope Lewis can win the title this year !!!

It's a huge problem - I try & pick some up when I take my 🐕for a walk. The companies producing plastic are not doing enough, the supermarkets with their unnecessary packaging are not doing enough either. Small changes we can all make - thank you for what you've done Lewis.🌎🌍🌏
— yonnette ward (@YYonnette) August 7, 2018

Better not say anything about how polluting the whole F1 scene is, high octane cars flown all over the world with massive support crews, so does every one attending an F1 race drink out of paper cups?
— Alex White (Looney) (@AlexWhiteGB) August 8, 2018
Lewis, my sister in law in going to row solo & unsupported across the Atlantic to raise awareness of plastics pollution in our worlds oceans. Please take a minute to read about her challenge and any support you could offer would be hugely appreciated @aurora_row

Hey Lewis,
Great to see you wanna help!
We're a non profit organization that actually goes around the world and clean up beaches, trying to prevent plastic pollution.
check our page out and help us spread the word on how important beach clean ups are.

I’m not entirely innocent in this so I’m back to carrying a reusable container from now on. I was diligent until a short while back. It Matters. It’s up to me to be responsible. Happy to be back and aware. Thanks for the nudge @LewisHamilton

True. I hate litter and pick it up as I walk. Odd its filmed but maybe some good use of public profile. Broader eco warrior with a tax dodging private jet.....?
— PeterC (@Bhikkubodhi) August 7, 2018

It’s not so much that plastic is the problem, if it can be recycled, it should be...its human behaviour that’s a problem. No rubbish should be left lying around, clean up after yourselves ! All #rubbish is a problem if it’s left lying around ! pic.twitter.com/MeUwJcl32Z

Thank you Lewis for your post about the issue! Awareness is better than recovery! Lewis not long ago I saw on TV how dangerous plastic is on the sea life and animals on land! They eating these plastic and mess and some of them dies! People must not act Careless in life! 😍 💳

Hey Lewis. Great what you did. Huge thanks from RiverCare and BeachCare. This is what we do all the time. (Take a look at us). Thanks for getting the message out and good fortune for the rest of the F1 season.
— RiverCare&BeachCare (@River_Care) August 7, 2018
You might be a bit busy right now but we’re on the brink of making littering socially unacceptable. We need #rolemodels like you. Come to #GosVegas and get the party started! @GosportWombles @FinalStrawSOL
— GosVegas Running (@GosVegasRunning) August 7, 2018
Perhaps if you paid the £2mil VAT you swindled out of on the private jet the atmosphere would be a bit cleaner & there would be more money to tackle the issue
— Jon Roberts (@JonRoberts91) August 7, 2018
Maybe you should ask yourself who leaves the plastic where they don’t!
— Beppe Magni (@lesmo27) August 7, 2018
It's good to highlight it but we can't do nothing if we stop buying from companies that have plastic we won't be able to buy anything
— 🇮🇪 F1Fan92 🇮🇪 (@F1Fan82) August 7, 2018
People in universities are looking at using crab shells somehow to produce bioplastics. Maybe then we’d have a crab problem though 😂
— Ryan Poole (@ryanpber) August 7, 2018
It's impossible not to buy plastics the ordinary person can't be at fault governments should clamp down on manufacturers
— 🇮🇪 F1Fan92 🇮🇪 (@F1Fan82) August 7, 2018
No you can’t help it at all, you’d literally die if you couldn’t buy plastic.
— Ryan Poole (@ryanpber) August 7, 2018

— Coral ♍⛤🥀🇬🇧🦉🐱🖖🕉 (@Reefgirl) August 7, 2018
Great effort Lewis and a great example! Perhaps start with your own giant multi-national company. I'm sure Mercedes (not attacking them) use lots of plastics. You are leading by example, bring them onboard too. Plastic wrappings on cars, how parts are packaged etc. Keep at it!
